Star Stories
Ms. Jamison and Ms. West brought their 4th grade students to the Planetarium today for a visit and participated in the Star Stories program. The students from Paramount met Headley the Cowboy, and acted out parts from some myths about the constellations we see in the sky. They easily identified the Big Dipper, used the Pointer Stars on the outside of the cup of the Big Dipper to locate the North Star and did a fantastic job of participating in the show! We also talked about a website that had a video of Jupiter's recent run-in with an asteroid. To see the video and learn more about the universe go to http://www.universetoday.com/ Here are a few photos from some of the stories they acted out at the Planetarium today:
Ursa Major and Ursa Minor (The Great Bear and the Little Bear)
Cepheus and Cassiopeia
Lyra the Harp
Pegasus the Flying Horse
Bootes the Herdsman
Astronomers of the Day
At the end of their visit and after lots of great acting one student from each class was chosen as the Astronomer of the Day. These astronomers had the attention to detail and enthusiasm needed by all good astronomers to do their job well. Congratulations to our Astronomers of the Day!
