VIRTUAL STEM NIGHTS @ THE BRISH
3rd Wednesday of Every Month
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
SPONSORED BY JLG INDUSTRIES
Visit the planetarium from the comfort of your own home with Virtual STEM Nights @ the Brish! Each Virtual Science Night features an exciting science experiment you can complete in the comfort of your own home! Safety equipment and materials kits are available to be picked up before the events at the planetarium during select hours, courtesy of JLG Industries. Be sure to follow the links below to register to receive a link to the events of your choice and directions on how to pick up your own safety and materials kits.
If you joined us last year and are joining again this year, thank you! The format of our programs will be a little different than it was last year. Because the planetarium is open for public programs, we will not be doing a night sky tour nor will we be handing out links to planetarium shows for home viewing. But, that leaves more time for STEM activities!
In addition, because the planetarium will also be open to classes, we will be handling the STEM kit distribution differently. At with last year, there will be 80 kits available on a first come, first served basis. The STEM kits will be available on the Monday and Tuesday prior to show night from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. On Wednesday, show day, they will be available from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. The kits will be on a cart outside the planetarium door for you to pick up. There will be a note on the cart indicating whether you need to take one kit per child or one kit per family. Please take only the number of kits needed for your family.
As with last year, notices will be sent out through Event Brite and Facebook when kit stock is getting low and then when kits are no longer available.

Pocket Solar System
Have you ever wondered at the scale of the solar system? How far are the planets from each other? Join William Brish Planetarium Resource Teacher Alicia Robertson as you create your own scale model of the solar system. When you are finished, you can either hang your solar system on your wall or roll it up and stick it in your pocket!

It is time for the Thanksgiving edition of STEM Night @ The Brish! And, let's throw in a little modern STEM Disney princess while we are at it! If the coach you took to the ball was made out of a pumpkin and was going to turn back into a pumpkin at midnight, how would you know by when you needed to be home? And, if you are going home at midnight, isn't it going to be dark? Won't you need lights to see by? Do you have enough STEM knowledge to run a clock and lights using your pumpkin? Join STEM/Planetarium teacher Alicia Robertson as we find out if we can indeed run a clock and lights off of our pumpkin coach. After the STEM activity, we will take a tour of the night sky so that we know what to look for in the sky over Thanksgiving Break!
