Tell Time By Leo
The third graders from Smithsburg came to the planetarium today to participate in the program Tell Time By Leo. Students mad their own Big Dipper Clocks and then used the clocks to predict the position of the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper in the sky. They also observed the movement of the stars in the sky, including Leo the Lion, and learned about the rotation of the earth and how that affects the movements of the stars and the sun. Here are a few pictures from their visit!
Astronomers Of The Day
At the end of the visit each teacher chose their Astronomer of the Day. These students exhibited the participation, listening and questioning skills needed to make a great astronomer! Congratulations to our Astronomers of the Day!
