Star Stories
The first group of 2nd graders from Maugansville arrived at the Planetarium this morning excited and ready to learn! They did a wonderful job of participating and acting out the different stories we learned about the constellations we find in the night sky. They were also able to use the Pointer Stars in the Big Dipper to find the North Star (Polaris), which is part of the Little Dipper. Here are some photos from their visit:
Ursa Major and Ursa Minor (The Great Bear and The Little Bear)
Draco the Dragon
Cepheus & Cassiopeia
Astronomers of the Day
Finally, it was time to choose our astronomers of the day. There were many good candidates, but the two astronomers below embodied the spirit and attention to detail necessary to become a true astronomer! Congratulations to our Astronomers of the Day!

The second group of Maugansville 2nd graders arrived right after the first group. This group of second graders did a great job of acting out the stories we learned about the constellations and was able to easily pick out the Big Dipper, identify the Pointer Stars and use them to locate the North Star (Polaris), which is part of the Little Dipper. Here are a few pictures from their visit:

Astronomers of the Day
After all their hard work, acting out the stories, it was time to choose an Astronomer of the Day from each class. The teachers had a difficult choice but in the end Cole and Benjamin took home the honors. Congratulations to our Astronomers of the Day!
